Devlog 5 Production Sprint 1
Welcome back! We are in the middle of your production sprint 1. Here is some of the progress that we made this week.
Art
Our robot has a gun now! Since our theme of the game is sci fi western vibes as a design choice we decided to mix a revolver with a sci fi looking gun. The gun and the bullet were made in Zbrush. Maya was our program of choice to retopologize and unwrap the models. Since we are doing one gun model and one bullet model we decided to combine its UVs to save up on the performance. After everything was done we colored the models in Substance painter.
Programming
On the programming side, quite a few things got added. The crates from the prototype were added, which are used to gain a power-up when you shoot against them.
Next week, you will see them in action. Another new thing is that they get dropped from a plane that flies by. While the crates have their parachute, it is better to have a system that allows for other things to be dropped. Such is the case with the player.

Character movement has also been revamped and feels super responsive and alive with its new procedural animations.
