Devlog 6 Death is upon us!



Ouch!


This week in dev, the player has finally received the proper beating! The player now disintegrates in to small pieces, flying all over the screen when hit with a bullet. 

The game now keeps track of how many lives a player has and displays that in the corners of the screens. But be careful, if you die 3 times you will not be able to respawn anymore :)

Players now also get dropped from planes, just like the grates you can see in the GIF.


Visual Changes

Different variations for the power up boxes were made. Each box would represent a different power up. Purple for teleport, blue for shield, red for extra life, green for switching the direction of the bullet, and last but not least pink for speeding up. These powerup boxes will drop from the sky randomly. 

Down below you can see the icons more clearly.

We decided to have different textures for the death of our character. We added “X” to its eyes to signify the death of the robot.

A basic Texture with not too many shenanigans for the Terrain has been added:

 and the more or less final shader for now has been added aswell (it can be expanded upon in polishing):
